      How to play

      1. Name the mystery instrument. You start with one clue: a single note with its start cut off.

      2. Each wrong guess, or skip, unlocks the next clue: its history, its range, a phrase, a famous moment, then the giveaway. Six in all.

      3. A wrong guess from the right family (strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion or keyboards) shows yellow.

      4. Turn your sound on: clues 1 and 4 are things to hear. Playing muted? Skip them.

      A new instrument every day at midnight.
